January 2011 is Disney Channel’s Most-Watched January Ever in Total Day, and Most-Watched Non-Summer Month in the Network’s History; Notches 9th Consecutive Monthly Win in Total Day Among Tweens 9-14

During the Month, “Good Luck Charlie” Hits Series Highs Across All Demos; “The Suite Life on Deck” Posts a Series High in Total Viewers

Boasting TV’s Top 10 scripted telecasts fronted my multiple telecasts of “Good Luck Charlie,” “Shake It Up” and “The Suite Life on Deck,” Disney Channel ranked as TV’s No. 1 network in Total Day for the 9th consecutive month among Tweens 9-14 (549,000/2.3 rating), delivering its largest January audience on record in the target demo, as well as among Total Viewers (1.81 million) and Kids 6-11 (673,000/2.7 rating). Impressively, January 11 became the channel’s most-watched non-summer month in its history in the same key demographics. Year to year, Disney Channel posted solid double-digit percent gains in Kids 6-11 (+12% – 673,000 vs. 600,000) and Tweens 9-14 (+10% – 549,000 vs. 499,000).

In Prime, Disney Channel extended its streak as TV’s No. 1 network to 71 consecutive months among Kids 6-11 (1.14 million/4.6 rating) and to 69 straight months among Tweens 9-14 (919,000/3.8 rating).

Led by “The Suite Life on Deck,” “Hannah Montana Forever,” “Shake It Up” and “Good Luck Charlie,” Disney Channel delivered the month’s Top 4 TV series in Kids 6-11 (cable’s Top 10 live-action series overall) and cable’s Top 6 series among Tweens 9-14 (Top 14 live-action series overall).

Disney Channel aired 3 of cable’s Top 6 scripted telecasts in Total Viewers with “The Suite Life on Deck” (7.77 million – series high), “Good Luck Charlie” (7.24 million – series high) and “Hannah Montana Forever” (6.89 million – series finale).

During the month, “Good Luck Charlie” (1/16/11) posted series highs in Total Viewers (7.24 million), Kids 6-11 (3.15 million/12.7 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (2.85 million/11.7 rating), while “The Suite Life on Deck” (1/16/11) also delivered a series high in Total Viewers (7.77 million), and posted its 2nd-best ratings ever in the target kid demos.

In Kids 6-11, Disney Channel owned TV’s Top 3 telecasts, and 5 of the Top 6 live-action telecasts:
In Tweens 9-14, Disney Channel held TV’s Top 5 telecasts, and the Top 10 scripted telecasts.

In the upcoming episode “Take Mel Out To the Ballgame,” When Teddy (Mendler) discovers that she has a great uncle named Mel (Clarke) who Bob (Eric Allan Kramer) refuses to talk about, she and Ivy visit his retirement home and decide to take him to a baseball game. However, once at the game, Mel’s obnoxious behavior provides an explanation for why he and Bob never got along.
